One Month

Our little girl is one month old already! I cannot believe how time has flown by. It has been the best month of my life.

For her one month birthday yesterday, we had her one month check-up. She is now 8 pounds 14 ounces (25th percentile), 21 inches (50th percentile), and her head is 14 1/8 inches (10th percentile). The doctor said she looks great and all is well. We are still trying to figure out how to help her belly, but other than that, things are pretty good. She had to have her first shot :( I think it would have been fine except for when the nurse stuck her with the needle, she let go and the needle fell sideways - while inside of her leg!! I couldn't believe it. Of course Ava screamed. I felt so bad for her. When it was over I was able to pick her up and she calmed down. Fortunately, we don't have any more shots for another month. I'm afraid that soon we will be moving out of newborn sizes and onto 0-3 months. I am really sad about this. I wish she could stay tiny for just a little bit longer. It is amazing to see her grow and change each day though. She is awake and alert more often and developing her own little personality. Her eyes are still a grayish blue color - we will see if they stay that way.

We have had a lot of firsts these past couple of weeks. We had our first bedtime story, Goodnight Moon, and have read our stories almost every night since. We had our first play date with our friend Andi. Ava was so excited that she just slept the whole time. Oh well, it was good for Mommy. We have started tummy time - which we are not thrilled with yet, but she seemed to enjoy playing on her play mat. We took her to church for the first time and to her first restaurant. Fittingly enough, her first restaurant was also the same place Scott and I had our first date, Chili's. (Same chain - different building) :)

We have been so blessed this month. We are very much looking forward to all of the wonderful memories still to come.
